Adejobi Explores Why Authorities Might Hesitate to Take Legal Action Against Those Involved in Vote Buying.
The Nigeria Police Force has announced its stance that it will neither apprehend nor have the authority to detain any voters engaged in vote buying during the off-cycle governorship election in Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo States scheduled for Saturday.
In a cautionary message, the Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters, Abuja, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, conveyed this position while responding to inquiries from journalists during a Friday night segment on the Channels Television program.
Adejobi clarified that, according to the rules of engagement for the November 11 election, law enforcement officers lack the prerogative to make arrests at polling units unless explicitly directed to do so by electoral officials.
