Again, Osun APC, PDP trade words over alleged large-scale violence plot
Again, Osun APC, PDP trade words over alleged large-scale violence plot. Prince Gboyega Famodun, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, has said that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) intends to cause widespread mayhem in the State that might tremble both the State and the country as a whole.
The opposition PDP, according to the APC, purchased weapons in order to wreak havoc in the State.
The PDP, however, quickly responded to the accusations and said that it was the party with a reputation for violence.
Adekunle Akindeke, the chairman of the PDP’s caretaker committee in Osun State, claimed that the APC had been disparaging the party.
He used the example of the assault on the party’s senatorial candidate’s campaign headquarters on Friday.
“Information revealed that the Osun State chapter of the PDP, which is working in cahoots with an outcast tendency in the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the aegis of The Osun Progressives (TOP), have concluded a water-tight plan to attack some members and leaders of the ruling party with the resultant effects being avoidable loss of life and destruction of movable and immovable property of theirs,” the APC stated in a release on Saturday
He said that the PDP leadership in the State had acquired an average of twenty weapons per local government with plans to also buy a sizable amount of gasoline so that the PDP thugs could set some of the APC members’ and leaders’ property on fire.
The data also revealed that the state PDP handlers had established a covert committee, whose mandate was to compile the suggested targets and determine their houses or a good location to meet them.
The intelligence further revealed that the PDP, which has stated its intention to abstain from the state’s local government council election scheduled for October 15, 2022, has secretly decided to work with the TOP to rig the election in a violent manner, rendering the state uncontainable by the current governor, Gboyega Oyetola.
The state governorship election tribunal’s sessions in Osogbo, which have officially started, have been scheduled for additional times during which some members and leaders of the ruling APC, particularly our witnesses, may be attacked, driven from the town, and subsequently prevented from testifying.
Another time frame for the attack, according to the intelligence, is when the tribunal announces its decision, whether it favors the PDP or not. This will give the impression to the uninformed public that there is genuine animosity toward or a decline in the popularity of the ruling party, leading to an uprising against the APC leadership and the governor Oyetola administration.
Additionally, according to reliable sources, the Pathfinder faction of the PDP and TOP have decided to utilize the conflict between Senator Adeleke and Prince Dotun Babayemi inside the PDP to disturb the peace in the State.
The PDP caretaker chairman responded, however, by stating, “Obviously, it is a lie, they are the administration in power and they are notorious for violence and attack.
“APC thugs even proceeded to assault our senatorial candidate’s campaign headquarters yesterday. Our election was free and fair, and we are confident in our victory.
“Where do we buy our weapons? They went to the tribunal; they should now go and present their case. We are not violent, and we won our election in a free and fair process.
