Ajaero: APC Support Groups Criticize Labor Union for Strike Action

The Director General of the Confederation of All Progressives Congress Support Groups (CASG), Engineer Dr. Kailani Muhammad, criticized the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) for what he perceived as a disregard for the masses and accused the union of aligning itself with the Labour Party (LP).

Addressing the press at the CASG National Headquarters in Abuja, Engineer Muhammad expressed disappointment that his earlier plea to the NLC to avoid a nationwide strike had been ignored. He lamented the recent strike action by the NLC, which disrupted operations at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja and Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

Engineer Muhammad urged the NLC leadership to refrain from using its influence for personal gains and cautioned against opposing the federal government due to electoral outcomes. He accused the NLC of aligning with Mr. Peter Obi and becoming politically affiliated with the Labour Party (LP).

He stressed that while engaging in partisan politics under the guise of a labor union was one thing, transferring the consequences of political displeasure onto the elected President was unacceptable. He called for a peaceful and constructive roundtable discussion to address issues instead of escalating tensions.

Emphasizing the impact of fuel subsidy removal on Nigerians, he urged the NLC to refrain from exacerbating the situation and advised against baseless allegations. The Director General assured that the Confederation of APC Support Groups and other patriotic Nigerians would defend the government against unfounded accusations.

In conclusion, Engineer Muhammad highlighted the importance of positive engagement with citizens to foster unity and contribute to the development of Nigeria. He called for a united purpose that would propel the country’s democratic journey toward socio-economic and political progress.
