Breaking News: Edo Deputy Governor, Shaibu Barred from Entering Government House Office

On Monday, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, faced entry denial to his Government House office in the state’s capital, Benin.

Reports indicate that on Monday, Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, arrived at the Government House in Benin but found the gate leading to his office locked. Shaibu mentioned that he had not received an official letter from the governor’s office regarding the relocation of his office. He emphasized that any directive regarding office relocation should come through the proper channel via the Governor’s office. During a phone conversation with an unidentified individual, Shaibu stated, “Up until now, I don’t have any official communication instructing me to relocate. The only individuals with official communication are my civil servants. They have official communication, but I do not. As I am speaking to you now, I am standing by the gate.”

According to Channels, last week, a letter allegedly from the Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa, was sent to the Permanent Secretary of the Deputy Governor’s Office, instructing Shaibu to move to a new office located at No 7, Dennis Osadebey Avenue, GRA, Benin City. However, sources close to Shaibu claim that the new office is in a state of neglect and urgently requires renovation.

This development is the latest development in the ongoing dispute between Governor Obaseki and his deputy. Although there have been speculations about plans to impeach Shaibu, the Edo Assembly has denied such claims.
