EPL Reasons Haaland can give Guardiola first Champions League trophy at Man City
EPL Reasons Haaland can give Guardiola first Champions League trophy at Man City. First week of October marks the start of the third group stage matchday of the UEFA Champions League 2022/23 season. The Daily Post shares reasons why Erling Haaland, the hot-shot striker for Manchester City, may help manager Pep Guardiola win his first title at the Etihad Stadium.
Following his departure from Bayern Munich, the 2016 Bundesliga winners, Guardiola joined Manchester City.
The Spaniard has had a good career at Man City thus far, but never at the Citizens has he won the UEFA Champions League.
Guardiola has recently won many trophies, including the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, in addition to back-to-back Premier League championships.
But Man City’s trophy case remains empty of the Champions League, the most coveted award in all of Europe.
However, according to DAILY POST, there are two key reasons why Haaland may eventually win the Champions League for Guardiola this year while playing for Man City:
- Haaland’s objectives and present shape:
The international striker from Norway is maybe the greatest in the world right now. In the last few days, he has broken a number of records thanks to his performance for Guardiola’s team.
Haaland only recently set a new Premier League record on Saturday when he scored in Man City’s 3-0 victory over Wolves at Molineux.
The former Borussia Dortmund star is off to the quickest start in Premier League history with 11 goals after only seven games in the English top division.
After scoring nine goals in his first five outings, the 22-year-old has broken Mickey Quinn and Sergio Aguero’s records.
The former Red Bull Salzburg star also made Premier League history by scoring in each of his first four away games.
With eleven goals, Haaland now has the best scoring record in the Premier League and is tied for first place in the Champions League with Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain and Robert Lewandowski of Barcelona. After the second matchday of the group stage, all three of the players have three goals in the Champions League.
His most recent goal, scored in the 16th minute against Wolves, is now his 14th overall for Manchester City this season across all competitions.
- Kevin De Bruyne and other Man City players providing assists:
This season, Haaland has received several assists from his teammates.
The success of Haaland at Man City has been greatly aided by players like Kevin De Bruyne, who is now leading the league in assists this season.
When Manchester City hosts Manchester United in a Premier League matchup on October 2, Haaland will now look to build on his great performance for Manchester City.
He moved from Dortmund to Manchester City earlier this summer for $51 million.
