Finally, VAR makes its debut in Nigeria and undergoes testing in a preseason game of the NNL.

The commencement of the Nigerian second-tier league is set for Saturday.

In a historic moment, the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) has arrived in Nigeria and underwent testing during a preseason game of the Nigeria National League (NNL) at the Sarki Umar Farouq Stadium in Daura, Katsina. The testing occurred during a friendly match between NLO side Junior Danburam and NNL campaigners Jigawa Golden Stars on Friday.

Furthermore, the NNL season for 2023-2024 is scheduled to kick off today at the newly renovated Lafia City Stadium, featuring a match between Nasarawa United and Zamfara United. Nasarawa United, having been among the four clubs relegated from the NPFL at the conclusion of the 2022/2023 season, will strive to make a mark in the lower division.

Notably, only the match at the Lafia City Stadium will take place today, with all other Week One matches scheduled for Saturday, November 18.
