Man stabs 40-year-old co-tenant to death in Ondo. A Magistrate Court in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, has arrested 23-year-old Abidemi Oguntuyi for fatally stabbing his 40-year-old co-tenant, Abiye Friday.
According to reports, the deceased, who shared a residence with the suspect, was stabbed in the neck and other places while attempting to settle a quarrel between Oguntuyi and his brother.
Two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder were presented against the defendant in court.
In the Akoko South West Local Government Area of the State, in Akungba-Ibaka Akoko’s quarters, the event happened on September 6, 2022, about 11:00 am.
According to the allegation, the charges violated Sections 319 and 355 of the Ondo State Criminal Code Law, Cap. 37 Vol. II Law of 2006.
In order to hold the defendant at the Olokuta Correctional facility while the court awaits the Director of Public Prosecutions’, DPP, recommendation, Simon Wada, the police prosecutor,
Adeola Kayode, the accused’s attorney, requested a postponement so he could respond with a counter-affidavit to the prosecutor’s written motion.
The case was postponed until October 7, 2022, for a decision, and the Magistrate, D.S. Sekoni, ordered that the accused be held in police custody until the remand application was decided.
