Mohbad: Ekiti private radio impose bans on Naira Marley songs

Fresh FM 106.9 FM, a privately owned radio station located in Ado, Ekiti State, took the decision on Tuesday morning to suspend the broadcast of songs by Nigerian artist Azeez Fashola, who goes by the stage name Naira Marley, until further notice.

The radio station made this announcement through a post on its Instagram account (@freshfm1069adoekiti), which was signed by Oluwaseunfunmi Williams, the Head of Production and Music Content.

This decision was made in response to the passing of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji, popularly known as MohBad, and the controversies surrounding Naira Marley.

Additionally, on Monday, Splash FM 105.5 in Ibadan, Oyo State, also implemented a ban on the airing of songs by Naira Marley.

PUNCH Online reports Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley at Marlian Records, died at the age of 27 last Tuesday.

“Following the public outcry from the general public trialing the death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (Mohbad), the alleged victimisation from different videos going viral and the involvement of members of his previous record label (Marlian records), fresh 106.9 fm has suspended the airplay of all songs and contents under the banner of Marlian Records,” it said.

The Lagos State Police Command, on Monday, set up a special investigative team to probe the death of Mohbad and is expected to submit an interim report within two weeks.
