PEPT Judgment: Osinbajo finally reacts to Tinubu’s victory over Atiku, Obi

Former Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has responded to the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, which upheld the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the victor of the February 25, 2023, election.

In a statement personally issued and released by his media office, Osinbajo characterized the PEPT judgment as a triumph for democracy and the rule of law.

“The ruling stands as a significant victory for Nigeria’s constitutional democracy and the principle of upholding the law,” he commented.

Osinbajo, who had contested in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election and secured the third position, following Tinubu and former Transport Minister, Chibuike Amaechi, expressed his belief that democracy in Nigeria has been further fortified.

He emphasized that this outcome represents a win for democracy as all parties conscientiously adhered to the electoral procedures prescribed by the law and turned to the judiciary in case of disputes.

In congratulating Tinubu, Kashim Shettima, and the APC, Osinbajo underscored the importance of collective efforts to tackle the challenges facing Nigeria and unlock the incredible potential of the nation.
