Prioritise Your Safety, No Story Worth Your Life – Stakeholders Warn JournalistsPrioritiseSome stakeholders in the media industry have advised journalists planning to cover the forthcoming general elections to prioritise their safety.
The stakeholders who spoke separately during a training for journalists organised by Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) on Wednesday in Ibadan, Oyo State insisted that no news report is worth a human life.
The assertion was made at a training for journalists on peaceful and non-violent elections held in Ibadan.
Resource persons at the training advised journalists to be mindful of their safety and security before, during and after the 2023 general elections.
A representative of the International Press Centre, Mr. Lanre Arogundade in his paper titled “Election and conflict sensitive reporting”, urged journalists to report any act of intimidation or threat.
