UNN cancels 2023/2024 Post-UTME over harsh economy
“The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) administration has officially canceled its 2023/2024 Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), originally slated for October. This decision, as outlined in a statement released by the institution’s Registrar, Mrs. C. N. Nnebedum, is attributed to the ongoing economic challenges facing the nation.
The statement clarified that the decision to waive the Post-UTME Screening test was made due to the uncertainties and logistical difficulties associated with travel to Enugu State from various parts of the country.
The management has opted to evaluate candidates based on their verified JAMB UTME, O’Level, and Direct Entry results for the 2023/2024 academic session.
The statement reads as follows: “We wish to inform prospective candidates and the public that the University of Nigeria, Nsukka’s 2023/2024 Post-UTME Screening Exercise, initially scheduled to run from Tuesday, October 3, 2023, to Friday, October 18, 2023, has been canceled. The decision to forgo the Post-UTME Screening Test for the 2023/2024 academic session was influenced by the current uncertainties and the logistical challenges associated with traveling from various parts of the country during this trying period.
“For the 2023/2024 Academic Session, the Management has resolved that the Screening Exercise will be based on the assessment of verified JAMB UTME, O’Level, and Direct Entry results, in lieu of the Post-UTME Computer Based Test (CBT) examination.
“Any candidate who fails to promptly upload their verified O’Level results on JAMB CAPS will not be considered for admission.
“All other details regarding the registration process for the Screening, including the submission of O’Level and Direct Entry results through the UNN portal, will remain as originally scheduled.”
It is worth noting that the recent removal of fuel subsidies by President Bola Tinubu has resulted in a significant rise in transportation fares nationwide.”
