World Cup Southgate won’t choose you, Danny Murphy informs England’s star
World Cup Southgate won’t choose you, Danny Murphy informs England’s star. Right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold won’t be included in England manager Gareth Southgate’s team for the FIFA 2022 World Cup, according to former Liverpool player Danny Murphy.
In Tuesday’s 2-1 Champions League victory against Ajax, Alexander-Arnold committed yet another defensive blunder for Liverpool, according to Murphy.
Alexander-Arnold, Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker, and Reece James are just a few of the top candidates pushing for a position in the Three Lions starting XI for England.
Murphy believes that Alexander-Arnold, 23, won’t travel to Qatar with the England team later this year because of his slump in form this year.
Trent won’t be leaving, Murphy told talkSPORT.
“I don’t believe Southgate will choose him,”
Murphy claimed he would sign the player despite saying Southgate won’t choose him because of what he brings to the table that some of the other right-back candidates do not.
Would I choose him, said Murphy. Yes! Due to the fact that we are fortunate to have them [right-backs], everyone will have different options.
Trent can accomplish things from an offensive point of view that the others can’t, which is something that he offers that none of the others can. He can cross the ball better than any of them because he notices passes that they miss. Trent is a talented athlete.
